Dynamic Downtown Huntsville has already drawn dozens of shops and restaurants to capitalize on resident and visitor traf c c c There are such com- munity staples like grocers hardware stores and orists with specialty retailers like antique deal- ers boutiques cycle shops And coming in in May — Heritage Kitchen + Bath Heritage is a a a dba of GLS Supply Huntsville which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this August Its parent company GLS Supply located in in Birming- ham Ala was established in May 2001 by George Sudderth and Mark Summerville Since then they have built a a a a solid reputation and strong busi- ness that includes an onsite showroom designed around contractors and their customers that showcases a a a a a wide array of plumbing xtures and supplies In August 2008 the owners of GLS Supply in Birmingham partnered with Ron Herrington
to create GLS Supply Huntsville They built a a 21 000-square-foot location and have steadily grown the business now with 10 employees Ron’s wife Heather came on board several years ago after serving in in in in administrative positions in in in in government of ces to assist with ef ciencies and of ce administration As they they grew they they believed that this city of 193 000 people would support a a a a separate showroom and had been kicking around ideas for some time Last November they decided the the time was right Hunts- ville is a a a city on the the move with change in the the air — as signaled by the booming Downtown Huntsville master plan According to Heather Huntsville has a a a a a large and and growing military and and defense contractor presence and Redstone Arsenal Toyota is doubling the the size of their manufacturing facility and Mazda is is coming to to town There is is also a a a a a baseball stadi- um being built for the city’s minor league team “Huntsville is a a well-educated community full of engineers IT specialists general contractors and government of cials ” described Heather “The change in in our city has been amazing and the people who already live and are relocating here are looking for nice housing with beautiful interiors which of course includes their baths and kitchens “ When they decided to move forward with a a show- room Heather took the the the lead on the the the project and within a a a month had found the the space signed the the lease and had design plans drawn up
It’s moved equally fast ever since and the showroom is scheduled to to open next month in the Downtown Huntsville area “Downtown Huntsville is on re right now and it’s the the perfect time to open a a location there ” described Heather “They’ve done a a wonderful job preserving the the historic feeling of the the area and working with tenants like us on on renovations Between the existing commercial spaces and all the indoor and outdoor activities — not to men- tion the the residents — the the foot traf c c is incredible ” Heather chose an old storefront building that had been home to The Heritage Club for 30+ years “We decided on using the name “Heritage” partly as a a a a a a way to to to pay a a a a a a little homage to to to that historic building ” she explained From Left: Tami Galloway Heather Herrington
